We are a talented team of versatile stylists who have been based in Beckenham since 2003. Our salon strikes the perfect balance between professional and friendly – we offer years of experience as well as a comfortable, relaxing environment. Many of our clients have been coming to us since we opened and say they wouldn’t trust anyone but us with their hair!
Hairdressing Gallery is owned by Angelo Mattia, who brings almost 40 years of experience to the salon. His son Gianni and daughter Michela also work in the family business – all three have built their own reputations as stylists, before coming together and pooling their experience to create Hairdressing Gallery. We are fortunate to also benefit from the talents of Sheridan and Emma, who bring their own styles and techniques to the salon.
We believe this combination of talent makes our salon feel very special and creates the perfect salon experience.

I have worked in hairdressing for most of my life and have owned my own business for almost 40 years. Hairdressing Gallery has been here in Beckenham since 2003 and I love running it alongside my two children, Michela and Gianni. It’s a great achievement to have such a successful family salon and many of our clients have been coming to us for years.
I got into hairdressing because I wanted a job that involved working with people. Clients trust in my hairdressing skills and the advice I give them, putting their faith in my ability to recommend styles and colours. Being a good stylist is about more than just cutting hair – I become a listener, a counsellor and a friendly face, as well as someone to laugh and joke with.
Outside of work, I enjoy relaxing and recharging, taking walks in the Kent countryside. I am a real family man, so I spend as much precious time with my grandchildren as I can.
As salon manager, it is my job to ensure all clients have the best possible experience with us. I love meeting new people, making them feel welcome in the salon and over time, building friendships. The job comes with lots of laughs, but I can also be a shoulder to cry on for my clients, which makes me appreciate the bond we have.
Hairdressing has been a passion of mine from the get go. I spent lots of time in my dad’s salon as a child and loved learning – I was always putting my styling skills to use on my friends’ hair. Some of the clients I met as a child still come to our family salon now, and they remember me from the days when I was still in my car seat! I had already built up a good knowledge of hairdressing, so after school, I took an intensive training course to become fully qualified. I’ve expanded my knowledge over time and can now offer my clients hair extensions, gel nails, brow services and lash services as well.
I’m a mum of two, so outside of work, you’ll usually find me out and about around Hayes having fun with my children. On the rare occasions when I get a moment’s peace, I’ll go out to dinner with my husband or socialise with friends.
Every day is different as a hair stylist, but one thing always stays the same – I make sure my clients go home feeling happy with their hair and better about themselves. There really is no such thing as a typical day in my line of work because all clients have individual requirements, and it’s my job to listen to them. Every day, I get to have so many interesting conversations, which is definitely a perk of this industry. I get on very well with my clients and the stories they tell me are hilarious. There’s never a dull moment!
I started out in hairdressing as an apprentice, working in a salon to learn all the tricks of the trade. I worked in a couple of different salons to build up my experience before coming on board at Hairdressing Gallery. I am now a partner in the family business, along with my sister Michela.
When I am not busy in the salon, I am usually out socialising with my friends and family, relaxing in front of a film or spending time with my two beautiful nieces. I am a big Manchester United supporter, but this isn’t always quite so relaxing – it’s a rollercoaster of emotions come every game!
I joined Hairdressing Gallery in 2017 as a Senior Stylist. It’s really rewarding working with my clients and making sure they are happy with the services I provide. I always offer a thorough consultation before any appointment, giving people my professional opinion so they know exactly what to expect. It means my clients leave the salon feeling happy with their hair.
I have worked in the hairdressing industry for 10 years now and I love my job. At 16, I found a position in a salon and achieved my NVQ Level 2. I regularly take new courses to make sure my knowledge is kept up to date. Before my life as a hairdresser, I worked in a nursey and helped to look after the children. It made me sure that I wanted to work with people, and I still love working with children now, so if your child ever needs a haircut just let me know!
I’m a people person outside of work as well and love socialising. When I’m not in the salon, I will usually be spending time with my friends, family and boyfriend.
